The Chiller Died

The Chiller Died… But the Brewery Didn’t

A few months back, a craft brewery I work with—let’s call them Copper Hops—was cruising along. Their lager was fermenting, orders were lined up, and things were smooth.

Then their glycol chiller went down. On a Friday. During a heatwave.

Fermentation tanks started warming up fast, and just like that, they were staring at the possibility of losing thousands of dollars in beer. Total nightmare.

But here’s the thing—they didn’t panic.

They made a call, filed a claim, and got moving. Why? Because they had solid commercial insurance that actually fit a brewery: equipment breakdown, spoilage, business interruption—the whole package.

They got a new chiller installed in a few days and were back to brewing without missing a beat.

If you run a brewery, you already know things break. The real question is: do you have a plan (and a policy) in place when they do?

Let’s chat if you’re not 100% sure your insurance has your back.
